Description
Vines were first cultivated on the Chateau d'Arcins site by the Knights Templar in the year 1300
For centuries, the wine estate at Arcins has been developing a vineyard first cultivated by the Knights Templar in the year 1300.
Visitors are imbued with a profound sense of history as they cross one of the Haut-Médoc's first vineyards.
The chateau itself was built later on the site of a former manor house, in the 17th century (1687 et 1842 are the two dates inscribed on the vat-house). It has since been restructured on many different occasions, by many different owners.
The chateau's current appearance is the result of a complete restoration undertaken following its acquisition by the Castel family in 1971.
From the road, visitors catch a glimpse of the fine wrought iron gates, with doorman's lodgings inscribed with the château's initials...
