The story of Chateau Cambon la Pelouse echoes through the ages. One of the oldest wine estates in the Medoc, the site's history goes all the way back to antiquity (a Roman road has been discovered in the grounds of the property).The chateau's vines neighbour those belonging to the prestigious Chateau Giscours, 1855 First Growth. The chateau takes its somewhat curious name from its founder (Cambon), who planted the chateau's first plot of vines in the adjacent La pelouse locality.Today, the chateau is under the ownership of the enthusiastic Annick and Jean-Marie, who are always willing to introduce visitors to their excellent Haut-Médoc wine.On a tour of the winery, visit the vat-house before heading over to the tasting rooms, where more surprises await.
